The Farm Bill is where much of the funding for conservation programs originates. While the Farm Bill is supposed to be renewed every five years, our most recent Farm Bill was passed in 2018. This 2018 Farm Bill was extended several times. The most recent extension was on November 13, 2025 as part of the deal to end the government shutdown. 2018 Farm Bill was extended until September 30, 2026.
The National Association of Conservation Districts lobbies the US Congress to include support for conservation practices in the Farm Bill.
